Dave Duerson’s autopsy showed signs of brain damage

By Dan Peterson

While our focus here is on training the athletic brain and expert performance, it is protecting athletes’ brains that is the issue that dwarfs pretty much anything else in the sports world today.  On that front today comes the disturbing news that the autopsy of Dave Duerson, the former NFL star who served on the NFL’s panel that considered former players’ claims for disability benefits, and who committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest so that his brain could be studied, came back yielding signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the brain disorder that has been associated with repeated head trauma, and with several other recently deceased football players.

Duerson’s story is an incredibly sad and important one.  It’s told well in this Miami New Times piece.

  6. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  7. Kudos for the great piece of writing. I am glad I have taken the time to read this.

  10. I have observed that over the course of making a relationship with real estate owners, you’ll be able to get them to understand that, in every single real estate deal, a commission rate is paid. All things considered, FSBO sellers tend not to “save” the fee. Rather, they struggle to win the commission by doing a agent’s task. In the process, they invest their money along with time to perform, as best they could, the tasks of an broker. Those responsibilities include disclosing the home through marketing, offering the home to prospective buyers, building a sense of buyer urgency in order to prompt an offer, scheduling home inspections, dealing with qualification inspections with the bank, supervising repairs, and facilitating the closing of the deal.

  11. I have discovered that wise real estate agents all over the place are starting to warm up to FSBO Marketing and advertising. They are acknowledging that it’s more than merely placing a poster in the front place. It’s really with regards to building relationships with these retailers who one of these days will become purchasers. So, after you give your time and effort to helping these sellers go it alone – the “Law connected with Reciprocity” kicks in. Good blog post.
